It was a day of celebration at the Genêts d’or nursing home, Thursday, on the occasion of the anniversary of two centenarians.
Anne Quérou, née Lacroix, was born on November 14, 1924 in Plouha. She was a hairdresser and a stay-at-home mother.
She has been a widow since 2003. She lived alone in her house in Plouha before joining Genêts d’or in July 2023. She was married to a soldier, a senior master. She had two daughters, Marie-Louise widow Noël and Monique widow Loquet, living in Plouha and Plérin. The family grew with five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Anne Quérou has always loved gardening, doing arrow words and crosswords.
Odette Jacob was born on October 20, 1924 in Pléguien into a family of seven brothers and sisters. She lived in Pléguien where her parents ran a farm. She met her husband after the war and had four children and seven grandchildren. She worked for Social Security. The couple lived in Paris for around fifteen years before returning to Plouha to retire.
Odette Jacob has always enjoyed knitting and gardening. “She focused on the happiness of others, of the whole family before her own. She was a mother hen”confide his children.
It’s a generation of women who experienced terrible times,
remarks Xavier Compain, the mayor. What courage did you have during the war, the Occupation! Afterwards, you managed a feminine social life as a grandmother and great-grandmother. We, today’s generation, hope to live as long as you.
