This Sunday morning, the firefighters continue to fight against a fire in a building in Peyrins. The fire started the previous evening, around 11:30 p.m., in a building on Grande rue. At the height of the fire, there were 73 firefighters.
Collapsed ceilings
Among them, the specialized long-term intervention team : firefighters, with larger air cylinders, which give them greater autonomy. They came from Montélimar, Valence, Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence. There is also a drone to help these firefighters. The fire, which started on the ground floor of the building, in a restaurant, was indeed difficult to control. It is an old building, in the Grande rue. During the night, the floors of the 1st and 2nd floors also collapsed, making the work of the firefighters even more complicated.
Five residents were quickly evacuated. They are fine: they have lightly inhaled smoke. They will be rehoused by family. There’s not much left of the building. Restaurant employees will find themselves unemployed. The mayor of Peyrins opened a gymnasium nearby to help with the rotation of fire crews. The latter will also stay on site for a good part of the day, particularly to prevent spread to another home.
