EXCLUDED. Jérôme Bertin (Patrick Nebout), new commissioner: “It’s …

By agreeing to officially become the new boss of the Mistral police station, Patrick Nebout will face certain difficulties, particularly in his legitimacy among his colleagues. His interpreter, Jérôme Bertin, spoke to us about the promotion of his character.

By accepting the position of commissioner, Patrick bids farewell to the field…

In reality, Patrick doesn’t really say goodbye to the field! It’s certain that he’s going to do a lot less than what he’s been doing until now because, by officially becoming a commissioner, he’s going to take control of the police station and have to manage a hell of a team.

Why is Patrick so stressed about becoming a commissioner?

We must not forget his journey. Patrick is a child who comes from the DDASS. Becoming a commissioner is a consecration for him. But it also has some legitimacy problems which will lead to some very funny situations. He will question himself a lot and wonder if he is capable of leading those who are his friends.

How will Patrick go about ensuring that his authority is respected by his colleagues?

With a lot of clumsiness! He will opt for certain solutions but they will not be the right ones… This will give rise to certain funny moments, notably during the annual interviews with each member of his team.

Jérôme Bertin: “The lifespan of a commissioner is quite short in Plus belle la vie”

By becoming a curator, Patrick adds his name to the long list of emblematic curators of Plus belle la vie…

It’s a cursed position… The lifespan of a commissioner is, in general, quite short in Plus belle la vie. But I am very confident. Patrick is a Mistralian. He has relationships with many characters in the series. Its history cannot be erased. I believe that it was a desire of the production to finally have a commissioner who has a life other than the one he lives at the police station.

Moon Daily was the first commissioner of Plus belle la vie, TF1 version. Since when did you know that she would give up her place to you so quickly?

At the last moment. Moon is someone I adore and always see. It was a big surprise for the whole team but we had to create a shock during the summer and after the break due to the Olympic Games.

By becoming a commissioner, Patrick gets a promotion. Personally, do you see this as a promotion as well?

I make a distinction between Patrick and my own life. But it’s true that I see it as an interesting development for me. I loved playing the field cop and I hope it continues. But there, with these hierarchical relationships, I will have even richer things to play.

Did you have any opponents to get this position?

When Moon left, we asked ourselves the question. It’s true that it could have been Nebout or Boher. But we thought for a long time that it would once again be a commissioner from outside, as has been the case since the beginning of the series. When the authors talked to me about it, there was a form of excitement mixed with apprehension given my character’s background.
