The SMAC is not empty-handed, with a nice 3rd place won by the TriSLN triathlete, Apolline Ramboux, among the cadets born in 2010. “I make a catastrophic start and find myself at the very back. I quickly move up places to try to get back to the front of the race. I find myself in a group of 5, until halfway, where I take a little lead and gradually get closer to second. Unfortunately, I can’t catch up, but I’m super happy with the result because I’m doing better than last year“, specifies Apolline. In the masters category, Apolline’s teammate, Jérôme Demaerschalk enters the top 5.

For his part, Clément Labar (Arch), despite the lack of specific preparation, found himself in 9th place in a tough race on the cross court, and 3rd place among the hopefuls. “With Coco, my coach, we made the decision not to prepare for the Belgian Championships because they fall very early in the season. I finished 9th in my race, but 7th Belgian athlete, which is really a good performance considering the level which is very impressive. I am in my place“, comments Clément. Her teammate, Amélie Bihain, joins the top 10 in women’s long cross country. “I’m happy with my race average despite the fact that I didn’t feel good at all. I dreamed of a top 10, which I managed to do, and I feel that I am improving, but the level of Belgian athletics continues to increase. And especially among girls. They are flying! You have to hold on so as not to get demoralized“, breathes Amélie.
