A man was indicted yesterday evening by an investigating judge from the Jirs de Marseille in the investigation into the assassination of Jean-François Servetto. The six other people who were also arrested in this case were released without charge.

A new advance in the investigation into the assassination of Jean-François Servetto. Jeremy Benati was indicted on the evening of Friday June 21 for “organized gang murder” et “conspiracy” by a magistrate from the specialized interregional jurisdiction (Jirs) of Marseille, who is leading this case.

The man was also remanded in custody. Information revealed by Corse-Matin and confirmed to France 3 Corse, this Saturday, by the public prosecutor of Marseille, Nicolas Bessone.

He had been arrested three days earlier, Tuesday June 18, in the north of the island by the research section of the Corsican gendarmerie and the Haute-Corse judicial police.. Six other people were also arrested and taken into custody. All were released without any charges being filed against them at this stage.

As a reminder, Jean-François Servetto was killed on September 21, 2022, in Poggio-Mezzana. The man then finds himself inside his home when he was targeted by a sniper presumably using a long-range weapon.

Informed by a relative, the emergency services intervened quickly, but the victim, hit in the chest, succumbed to his injuries during his transport to hospital.

Unfavorably known to the justice system, Jean-François Servetto had already escaped two assassination attempts in the past. II had been targeted in February 2021 in Santa Lucia di Moriani.

The only survivor of the “Silvareccio massacre” which left three people dead in July 2013, he survived but was referred to the criminal court, the investigations having demonstrated that the victims of the triple assassination were planning a crime. In 2016, Jean-François Servetto was sentenced to six years in prison for conspiracy to commit one or more assassinations.

Jean-François Servetto had been indicted and placed under judicial supervision as part of an investigation by Jirs Marseille targeting preparations for an assassination in the Cargèse region.
