The Glacier 3000 tourist complex was inaugurated on Thursday above Les Diablerets.
The emblematic station building was given a makeover following a fire which ravaged the structure in September 2022. The reconstruction work was carried out over two years in difficult conditions under the leadership of the famous Swiss architect Mario Botta .
Revised and improved, the Scex Rouge building will include three restaurants, an Alpine micro-solar power plant, as well as a panoramic terrace for a total cost of 30 million francs. This reconstruction is one of the resort’s many projects to maintain its status as a tourist hub in the canton of Vaud. Bernard Tschannen, director of Glacier 3000.
The building now aims for energy autonomy thanks to its new solar electricity production. For Isabelle Moret, State Councilor in charge of the economy and innovation, the place is an example of green transition.
For Mario Botta, architect in charge of the project, this reconstruction is a satisfaction.
The infrastructure is already accessible to the general public. At present, the results of the investigation into the causes of the 2022 fire are still not known.
