The LFP presents its 100% Ligue 1 channel which could see the light of day

The LFP has still not found a broadcaster for the next Ligue 1 seasons. It could choose to broadcast the matches itself on a special channel which was unveiled this Friday.

Less than two months before the start of the next Ligue 1 season, the Professional Football League (LFP) has still not found a broadcaster. She might choose to go it alone.

A channel repeated everywhere

The LFP is considering the launch of its own 100% Ligue 1 channel in the event that it cannot find common ground with a broadcaster for the TV rights for the next five seasons of the French championship.

And the League has disclosed the almost final outlines of this channel according to L’Equipe. The LFP would rely on seven potential distributors, the four national ISPs but also Amazon via Prime Video, Molotov and Google TV.

However, this does not guarantee a minimum for the LFP. The latter would seek to obtain at least 500 million euros per year, a figure which would be achievable within 2 or 3 years, provided that it has the number of subscribers necessary for the channel, hence very wide distribution. with different supports. To see whether or not the envisaged price of 25 euros per month for the entire championship will act as a deterrent.

On the technical side, the LFP has already started its purchases in the event that it has to broadcast the matches itself. It has equipped itself with means of distribution, including a control room.

There still remains the solution of finding a last minute agreement with beIN Sports or even with DAZN which remained in the discussions despite an initial refusal of its offer which had been deemed too low.
