A violent fire broke out in a mansion located in the town of Plouisy (Côtes-d’Armor)next to Guingampthis Wednesday evening, November 13 at around 11 p.m.

Four people occupied the house: the mother and her daughter were unharmed, the father and his son were hospitalized after inhaling smoke.

Nine emergency centers in the area immediately went to the site to assist residents and put out the fire as quickly as possible.

Around thirty men and a dozen machines were mobilized, coming from the barracks of Guingamp, Goudelin, Bgard, Lannion, Belle-Isle-en-Terre, Pommerit-le-Vicomte, Lanvollon and Pontrieux and Saint-Brieuc.

The firefighters were faced with “a very strong fire” in a large house of approximately 150 square meters, on two floors.

“The roof was completely on fire”

When they arrived on site, “the roof was completely engulfed in flames”, summarized the firefighters who were still numerous on site this Thursday morning.

They spent more than 2.5 hours “fighting the flames and putting down the fire”. Around 3 a.m., the flames were under control, but many firefighters remained on site to prevent partial outbreaks of fire and clear rubble from inside the mansion.

In particular, they had to be extra vigilant to progress through the mansion, in which the wooden floors were also seriously damaged by the flames. Firefighters will remain on site on surveillance all day to completely secure the premises.

The town hall calls for solidarity

The mayor of Plouisy, Rémy Guillou, immediately went to the scene Thursday evening, in Kermelven, as the fire ravaged the house. He stayed on site for a good part of the night and announced this morning that the town hall had launched an appeal for the generosity of residents to help this family from Plouisy “who lost everything in the fire”.

The town hall is calling for donations of clothing and food in particular. “A collection point is available at the Plouisy town hall”.

The mother and her daughter welcomed by the mayor

The mother and her daughter were welcomed by the mayor of Plouisy last night, while the father and his son were hospitalized after inhaling smoke. The mayor and elected officials of Plouisy are looking for emergency rehousing options for the family.
