Attal presents his program and sends “Nupes” and RN back to back: “On June 30, I would like the French to choose me”

“On January 9, the President of the Republic appointed me. On June 30, I would like the French to choose me.” This Thursday morning, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal presented the broad outlines of the majority’s program in view of the early legislative elections. “A vote will never have so many consequences,” warned the head of government, while the presidential camp, caught in the opinion polls between a left-wing bloc, united behind the “New Popular Front” banner, and the National Rally, risks losing the majority in the National Assembly, which would open the way to cohabitation.

“The choice between these three blocks will be decided in the first round, from June 30. In the second round, in certain constituencies, it may already be too late,” said Gabriel Attal, calling on voters to “vote usefully” from June 30, in particular “voters of a moderate social left.” “It is from June 30 that the Prime Minister, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Jordan Bardella or myself, chooses himself,” he said. “This is not a presidential election, things are clear, the president is elected until 2027 and whatever the result of the vote, he will remain president until 2027,” Gabriel Attal also insisted.

The tenant of Matignon spent a long time castigating the campaign promises of his opponents. “The National Rally is a mess and fog, the Nupes, united behind LFI, is the camp of compromise and dissimulation,” he said. He referred the left to the cost of his program: “300 billion in new spending and 50 billion in new taxes from this summer”, taking up an estimate presented on social networks by the supporters of the President of the Republic, but widely contested since. As for the RN, “which has become the camp of national denial since the start of this campaign”, Gabriel Attal singled out Jordan Bardella’s “backsliding” on several measures, such as the return of retirement at 60.

“Inscribe in the law a budgetary golden rule, no increase in taxes whatever happens”

Most of the measures presented by the head of government had already been outlined in recent days.

On the economic level, he announces a 15% reduction in the electricity bill “from this winter for all households thanks to the reform of the electricity market”, and the implementation group purchases for school supplies. “It’s an average of 50 euros saved at the start of the school year for families,” he estimated.

But also various tax measures, while the majority has made lower taxes one of the strong axes of their campaign. “We make a commitment: to enshrine in law a budgetary golden rule, no tax increase no matter what “, he announced. Gabriel Attal is also committed to the elimination of notary fees of up to 15,000 euros for first-time buyers and for a purchase of less than 250,000 euros. Moreover, the purchasing power bonus ceiling will be raised at 10,000 euros per year, without charges or taxes.

Experimenting with “the week in 4 days” for certain workers

On the work side, the Prime Minister promises reductions in charges above the minimum wage“so that companies revalue employees and this frees up salary increases”.

It also offers to experience “the week in 4 days”, “which allows employees who cannot telework to benefit from an additional day,” he underlined. Still on the organization of working hours, Gabriel Attal wants divorced parents to be able to “work more in the weeks when they do not have custody of their children and less in the weeks when the children are at home”.

“We will create a public mutual fund at one euro per dayfor a retiree, it’s a saving of 90 euros per month,” he further announced.

“Fourteen new nuclear reactors”

Concerning the ecological transition, the tenant of Matignon wishes to offer “every year 100,000 clean vehicles for rental at 100 euros per month maximum “. He also confirmed “the start of construction of fourteen new nuclear reactors », castigating both the dissensions on the left over the energy mix and the RN’s desire to move away from renewables.

Work on juvenile justice

“Zero impunity and a burst of authority for our youth,” promises Gabriel Attal regarding the security aspect of his program. “ We will see the minority excuse again to break recidivism,” he declared. He also reiterated his will to ban social networks to under 15s.

Faced with anti-Semitism, “the responsibility” of certain politicians

“I prefer to be clear, constant, consistent, to tell the truth rather than to do everything and say anything to win an election,” defended Gabriel Attal in front of an audience of journalists. “I’m not going to start telling you that we’re going to distribute money we don’t have. »

Asked to react to the anti-Semitic rape of a 12-year-old girl in Courbevoie, the Prime Minister denounced an “absolutely unspeakable, abject, unspeakable” act. But he also castigated the positions of certain political leaders, believing that they had a “responsibility” in the face of the “trivialization of hatred”. “When we say, as was the case for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, that anti-Semitism is, I quote, ‘residual’ in our country while it […] exploded, […] obviously we are allowing a speech, a hatred to become commonplace in public debate. »
