Algeria Football– JS Kabylie (JSK) surprised its supporters by making a bold decision concerning its goalkeeper Gaya Merbah, seriously injured just before the start of the season. Faced with the long unavailability of its goalkeeper, the Kabyle team decided to send him to the world-renowned Aspetar medical center, located in Doha, Qatar, for advanced treatment and rapid rehabilitation.
JS Kabylie (JSK) captain Gaya Merbah is preparing to fly to Doha, Qatar, where he will continue his rehabilitation at the Aspetar sports clinic, which specializes in the treatment of injuries and rehabilitation of high-performance athletes. level. According to an authorized source, the leaders of the JSK have taken all the necessary measures to ensure that he is taken care of upon his arrival, with the aim of promoting his rapid recovery.
JSK goalkeeper and pillar Gaya Merbah suffered a serious injury in mid-September, when he suffered a double fracture of his tibia. This injury occurred during a match, causing great concern within the club. Emergency surgery at the Nedir Mohamed hospital, the player had to observe a few days of forced rest before starting his rehabilitation in Algiers. The managers, wishing to offer him the best conditions for a return to the field as quickly as possible, therefore decided to send him to Aspetar, a center recognized for its expertise and modern infrastructure.
Before leaving for Doha, Merbah still has to sort out a slight administrative detail. But the player is already motivated and eager to join Aspetar, where he will benefit from an adapted and comprehensive rehabilitation program. The expected duration of his rehabilitation at Aspetar is estimated at between six and eight weeks. If everything goes as planned, Merbah could return to competition as early as February, which would relieve JSK supporters and allow the team to benefit from his experience for the second half of the season.
When his injury was announced, some observers had anticipated an imminent replacement. Rumors even indicated that Raïs Ouahab Mbolhi, former goalkeeper of the national team, could be recruited to compensate for the absence of Merbah. However, the leaders and coach Abdelhak Benchikha have chosen to maintain their confidence in Merbah, believing that he could return within a few months at the latest and thus avoid last minute recruitment. Although Mbolhi is available, his lack of activity since his departure from CR Belouizdad and the time it would take for him to return to optimal form have dissuaded the technical staff. Benchikha therefore opted for Hadid and Benrabah, two goalkeepers already in the squad, thus preferring to focus on the stability of the team.
Merbah, for his part, has always shown unwavering loyalty to JSK, choosing the club of his heart despite more advantageous offers, notably from MC Alger (MCA). When signing his contract, he declared that his childhood dream was to defend the colors of JSK. This choice of loyalty has marked the leaders, who today wish to support it as best they can in this difficult period.
While awaiting his return, Merbah continues to play a crucial role within the club. He regularly goes to training and matches to support and motivate his teammates, despite his physical condition. His presence as captain and his moral support have a positive impact on the group, which aspires to see him back in action quickly.
With Merbah’s experience and leadership, JSK hopes to strengthen its defense for the return phase and give itself every chance of playing the leading roles in the title race. The club is therefore counting on a strong return of its captain from the start of next year, with the ambition of returning to the competition in top form, thanks to the care and support of Aspetar.
