A fire broke out in a residence on avenue Laurin in Quebec


At 1:38 p.m., a fire broke out in a residence located on Laurin Avenue, in Quebec.

The first information coming in to 9-1-1 indicated the presence of black smoke and flames. The evacuation of the residence was completed.

With the information that the fire department had, two alarms were sounded, mobilizing nearly 35 firefighters in the first minutes of the intervention.

Flames were coming out of a basement window. The fire was located in the basement with spread to the wall and ceiling assembly.

The fire was quickly brought under control, so, around 2:18 p.m., the operations manager indicated that the situation was under control, followed subsequently by under-control.

The Red Cross was sent to take care of the residents.

The Fire Department was on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The most likely cause of the fire was accidental, said the Quebec Fire Protection Service.
