Seven dead in a terrible collision between three cars in Bailleau-le-Pin, near Chartres

An accident between three cars occurred this Tuesday, June 18, early in the evening, on the RD921, in Bailleau-le-Pin, near Chartres. Seven people died, including an 80-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman. The other five people who died, born between 2005 and 2007, were in a car that caught fire. The accident also left two injured, transported to Chartres hospital in Coudray.

An accident involving three cars occurred this Tuesday, June 18, 2024, early in the evening, on the RD 921, in Bailleau-le-Pin, 3 km after leaving the town, in the direction of Illiers-Combray.

The condition of the vehicles testifies to the violence of the impact. In particular, a car caught fire. Forty-three firefighters were mobilized, under the orders of Captain David Boutoille. A Samu helicopter and two Smur vehicles were also on the scene.

Four injured in accident near Dreux

Seven people died in this accident. Among them, an 80-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman, from Illiers-Combray. The five other deceased people, born between 2005 and 2007, said Frédéric Chevallier, public prosecutor, at 9:45 p.m., were in a car which caught fire. Two of them were from Lucé, one from Bailleau-le-Pin, one from Illiers-Combray and one from Berchères-les-Pierres. The bodies had to be extricated from the vehicle once the fire was extinguished.

A 23-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, injured, were transported to Chartres hospital, in Coudray.

Traffic is closed in both directions during rescue operations. A deviation is established.

Around 8:15 p.m., vehicles began to be removed. The firefighter intervention ended on Tuesday evening, at 11 p.m.
