The mother of Socayna, a 24-year-old girl who died in September after being hit by a stray bullet in a city in Marseille, testified Tuesday on the BFMTV set in front of candidates for the early legislative elections. “She was everything to us,” said this woman, Layla, referring to a young girl who was “lively, full of joy”, and who was “very cultured”.
With great emotion, she retraced what happened on September 10, before her daughter was hit by a stray bullet. She said she heard gunshots, which she initially thought were firecrackers. One of her daughters then went to Socayna’s room, where she discovered her sister’s body. “I heard screams. I went to look and found my daughter in a pool of blood,” she said, sobbing. In a state of brain death, the young woman died two days later.
