SSeven people were killed, and two others injured, one seriously, in a traffic accident that occurred early Tuesday evening near Chartres, we learned from the firefighters and the Eure-et prefecture. – Dormouse.

Five young people aged 19 to 20 died in the fire of their vehicle and a couple aged 90 and 85 were killed in the collision, which involved three vehicles shortly before 7:00 p.m. on the RD 921 in Bailleau-le-Pin, Frédéric Blanc, chief of staff of the prefect of Eure-et-Loir, told AFP.

“A first vehicle which was traveling in the direction of Illiers-Combray – Chartres, in which there were five young people, hit another vehicle which was traveling in the opposite direction, in which the elderly couple was,” said Mr. Blanc.

“The first vehicle then collided with a third vehicle which was also coming in the opposite direction. The first vehicle caught fire. The five occupants died in the fire,” added the chief of staff.

In the third vehicle, a 23-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were injured, one seriously. They were transported to the Chartres hospital center.

Traffic was completely cut off on this secondary route to allow rescue operations.
