An attempted robbery with a dramatic turn. On Wednesday, around 11:20 p.m., a fight broke out between two men near Place Albert-Kahn, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. While one of them tried to steal the other’s bike, the victim tried to defend himself to keep his property. Faced with this reaction, the thief grabbed a broken bottle and began hitting his victim before fleeing on foot, according to a source close to the case.

Arriving on site a few minutes later, emergency services took care of the man on the ground, before transporting him to the Georges-Pompidou hospital (15th century). His vital prognosis was then in jeopardy. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, his life is no longer in danger. An investigation was initially opened for attempted homicide and was entrusted to the 18th arrondissement police station.

The arrested man known to the police

According to a police source, the 32-year-old victim was leaving a grocery store before discovering that a man was trying to steal his bike. Subsequently, he allegedly received “numerous blows from a broken bottle” to the head, arms and torso. Found unconscious by firefighters upon their arrival, the victim was quickly taken to hospital.

The alleged perpetrator, aged 45, was arrested a few dozen minutes later by the police. Under the influence of alcohol, he was then taken into police custody. The man was already known to the police for cases of violence, theft or even sexual assault.
