accidental death of Jean-Luc Jardel

Horse lover, breeder and owner of gallopers for more than thirty years, Jean-Luc Jardel accidentally disappeared on the Costa Rican Pacific coast (Protrero), at the age of 73. Owner and galloping breeder, this former business manager at the head of Transports Jardel (a coach company based in Montauban and Toulouse), saw his colors shine in 1994 at Evry at Quinté+ level thanks to the English thoroughbred Youngui (8 victories), winner of the Prix Prédicateur (Listed-Race) at Saint-Cloud. But attached to the South-West, Jean-Luc Jardel had mainly worked for the purebred Arab breed, he who was part, with Yves Plantin, Jean-Marc de Watrigant, Renée-Laure Koch, Guy Dell’Ova, Jean-Marc Valerio or even Gilbert Cabanes, founding members of the AFAC (French Association of French Arab Racing Horses), of which he was president for around ten years. It will thus have contributed to the increase in allocations and, in turn, encouraged the arrival of valuable sponsors. “He loved his horses and had a real passion for the Arabian thoroughbred, recalls, moved, Jean-Pierre Totain. Jean-Luc had created the Ecurie de Syrah and we had experienced great joys together, notably winning the President’s Prize of the United Arab Emirates with Carrère Volcanoin 1994, in Chantilly.” His finest flagship as a breeder will remain Soko, twice winner of the Prix Manganate (group I), in Deauville in 2021 and 2022, for the training of Elisabeth Bernard. To his family and loved ones, the ParisTurf editorial staff sends its sincere condolences. The date and location of his funeral will be announced later.
