Why didn’t Didier Deschamps name Zinédine Zidane as the best player he played with in his career?
“He will never say good things about a possible competitor”
Christophe Dugarry gave the answer on RMC: “Obviously he will never wear it. He won’t say ‘Zizou’ because he won’t emphasize it. He will never try. The best he has known, of course, is Zidane. Who made him win the World Cup? It’s Zidane! Who made him win a lot of stuff? It’s Zidane. But he will never say it! He will never say it! He’s been here for twelve years and he’ll never make an assist. He has never made an assist in his life, so even then he won’t make one. He doesn’t know how to do that. He will never say anything good about a possible competitor.”
To avoid making people jealous, Deschamps did not name anyone.
