More than 9,000 Hydro-Québec customers are still without power in Abitibi-Témiscamingue after strong winds and storms. Across the region, 71 power outages were in progress Tuesday morning.
The majority of outages affect the Vallée-de-l’Or, Rouyn-Noranda and the Abitibi MRC sectors.
We have teams who worked most of the night to restore as many customers as possible. This morning, we will also have around fifteen teams working, and we will have help
underlines Valérie Aubut, community relations advisor at Hydro-Québec.
Valérie Aubut specified Tuesday morning that 16 teams from Hautes-Laurentides were traveling to Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
We hope that during the day, we will be able to restore all customers
she adds.
At the peak of the outages Monday evening around 9 p.m., more than 16,000 customers were without power due to equipment breakdown.
The violent storms caused Hydro-Québec poles and vegetation to fall on equipment, causing thousands of outages.
