Perhaps he has made the unspoken dream of many Strava users come true. By winning the Neirivue-Moléson race on Sunday, Rémi Bonnet also undermined the runners’ application.

The Fribourgeois flew over the approximately 10.6 kilometers and 1,290 meters of altitude difference of the course in just 57 minutes and 17 seconds. The time is slower – or less fast – than its record established in 2023 (55 minutes and 41 seconds). It remains monstrous enough for Strava to imagine a poorly listed activity.

“It looks like this running outing was actually a cycling outing. Do you want to modify it?”, we can read on a screenshot that the runner sent to the Instagram account “lesgenouxdanslegif”.

The phrase may make you smile, but it says a lot about the stratospheric level of the 29-year-old runner when it comes to climbing a mountain. And certainly the rains that have fallen in recent weeks have not made the task easier for the approximately 1000 participants. 700 people took part in the main race dominated by Rémi Bonnet and Susanna Saapunki, the Finn who won the women’s race in 1h10’37”.

Rémi Bonnet is in good shape, and he shows it in the clearest way possible. After the ski mountaineering season, Neirivue-Moléson was the first race of the Fribourgeois trail season. He will then tackle the Mont-Blanc marathon. He emerged a winner in 2023, after three unsuccessful attempts (2019, 2021, 2022).

He will then head to Corsica for the Restonica Trail at the beginning of July. The last big piece before one of its major objectives: Sierre-Zinal, August 10.
