Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) have immediately suspended Premier League referee David Coote as an investigation is launched into a controversial video that circulated on social media.
This video apparently shows someone resembling Coote launching into a speech filled with abuse directed at Liverpool FC and their manager, Jurgen Klopp.
In an official statement, the PGMOL said: “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. The PGMOL will make no further comment until this process is complete.” The seriousness of the accusations pushed the Football Association as well as Liverpool FC to look into the matter.
