Dr Sébastien Moschietto, head of the intensive care unit at Avignon Hospital, has died at the age of 44

“It is with great sadness that we learned yesterday of the sudden death of Dr Sébastien Moschietto.

Sébastien was a cardiologist, DESC in medical intensive care, former intern from Nice University Hospital, Assistant clinical head in Intensive Medicine and Intensive Care at the University Hospital then PH in Fréjus and for more than 10 years he was head of the intensive care unit at the Avignon Hospital.

Sébastien was an exceptional clinician, thanks to his energy and dynamism, the service he led became a regional reference.
Particularly involved and inventive during the COVID crisis, he had just received an award from the ARS for the territorial organization he had put in place. He was also decorated with the Order of Merit.

He left at just 44 years old. Our thoughts are with his wife, his two daughters and his loved ones. »

Sébastien Moschietto was particularly involved in vaccination during the Covid pandemic, he was one of the six intensive care doctors in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur to have signed a forum to call for the vaccination of the population and had spoke several times in the media on the subject.

Emotion in the medical community

Since the announcement of his death, testimonies have been pouring in, doctors, interns, patients:

“How much we laughed…and how much we worked…We will not forget you. All my thoughts to his family. »

“Solidarity to his loved ones as well as his colleagues. I know the tensions that the Avignon CH regularly experiences and I suspect that the repercussions on the health of caregivers are immense. »

“How sad to hear such terrible news, he is an outstanding doctor. I was able to work with him as a supplier, but he was much more than a customer. He needed me, I did what I could to help him. A doctor close to his patients, a man very involved in his service…”

” It’s horrible. Thoughts for his family, his team. I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the excellence of the Avignon sheave service. He got Dad out of a critical situation to say the least in 2018.”

“All my respects to him and his exceptional personality and skills. Great honor to be able to work with him. All my condolences to the family and the entire team. »

“Loved & respected by all those who had the honor of working with him. »
