The Guinean Professional Football League (LGFP) announced this Tuesday, July 2, 2024, its decision to replay the AS Kaloum-Milo FC match because of the incident that occurred on June 21 at the Mission stadium. The match will resume where it left off, that is, in the second half. This decision was well received in the Guinean sports world, Guineematin.com noted through one of its reporters.

This AS Kaloum-Milo FC match will be played on July 5 at the Mission stadium with maximum security. Ms. Gnoumassé DAFFE, sports journalist and CEO of Gnouma Médias, welcomes this decision by the LGFP.

“Honestly, I speak to you from the heart, I am frankly in favor of resuming the match. First, because I like thrilling championship endings at the end of the season. It is true that it was ASK who were on the receiving end, there was violence. There was a lot of talk; but, I have never seen in football, in a championship, a team that does not feel safe refuse to leave the locker room to continue the match. Frankly, I say it from the heart, I am in favor of replaying this match,” she declared.

Abounding in the same sense, Alpha Mady Touré, sports journalist and general director of CIS media, approves this “decision which was too late”. However, he notes certain inconsistencies between the officials’ report and the images provided by the producer on the incident which led to this resumption.

“This is a decision that has been delayed for too long. And this delay has created enough confusion among observers of Guinean football. This delay also highlights the amateurism that reigns today within the Guinean football league through its president who issued a letter to ask the commission that issued its decision today concerning the match, when it had issued its first decision to appeal, that is to say to hold a new meeting and produce a new report. He categorically opposed his members who maintained this decision by deciding to replay the match. There is also an inconsistency between the officials’ report and the images provided by the producer. And that is a real problem of moral probity, since there is the possibility of corruption during these matches. It is very problematic. In the report also, in no case is it mentioned that Milo refused to play the match, but rather was late. While this argument that was put forward by some observers to say that Milo must lose the match at the green carpet. I had opted for us to replay the match, since that could calm all parties. But today, if we read the decision, I do not see why Milo would not have left with the three points of the match quite simply, “he said.

It should be noted that the last 45 minutes of the match will be played on July 5 at the Mission stadium.
