Two vehicles were the target of arson in the same neighborhood of Montreal, during the night from Sunday to Monday.

Posted at 6:40 a.m.

The two events occurred around 11:45 p.m. Sunday on rue Jules-Helbronner and around 1:30 a.m. Monday on 5e avenue, in the Rivière-des-Prairies district.

In both cases, incendiary objects were found on the scene, which pushes the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) to treat these cases as arson.

The vehicle set on fire on rue Jules-Helbronner suffered “considerable” damage, while the one that caught fire on 5e avenue is a total loss. They will be towed for assessment purposes.

No one was injured in these two incidents. The SPVM reported no arrests Monday morning, but witnesses saw a suspect set fire to the vehicle which was parked on rue Jules-Helbronner.

The Montreal police force did not specify whether these two events were linked early Monday.
