American media assure that the new president of the United States called his Russian counterpart.
During the electoral campaign, Donald Trump said he intended to end the war in Ukraine “in 24 hours”, while the United States represents Kyiv's main support in the face of the Russian invasion.
According to the Washington Post, Sunday, which cites people familiar with the matter, Donald Trump spoke by telephone this Thursday with Vladimir Putin, whom he asked not to worsen the situation on the front. He would also have reminded the Russian president of “Washington's significant military presence in Europe”, as well as his desire to discuss with him “the imminent resolution of the war in Ukraine”.

This Monday, the Kremlin denied the existence of this telephone interview. The Kremlin spokesperson called these reports from the Washington Post and other media, including Reuters, “pure fiction.”
“No intention”
Vladimir Putin does not intend to speak with Donald Trump at the moment, added Dmitri Peskov.
According to American media, Donald Trump spoke on Wednesday, the day before this phone call denied by Russia, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and assured him of his support.
