Created in 1998 to help households on low incomes, the Christmas bonus will return in December 2024 to offer additional support this festive period. While end-of-year expenses often weigh heavily on family budgets, this help proves valuable in making everyday life smoother.
The exact date of the payment is not yet confirmed, but like every year, the transfer should be made around December 15.
An end-of-year boost for millions of households
In 2023, no less than 2.3 million households had benefited from this bonus. This is intended for people benefiting from certain social benefits such as the RSA, the activity bonus, the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), or the retirement equivalent allowance (AER).
It is also granted to people receiving training remuneration from Pôle emploi or internship remuneration. This financial support, which comes at the right time to help families get through the holidays, is granted by the CAF, the MSA or France Travail, depending on each person’s situation.
An amount adapted to the needs of families
The amount of the Christmas bonus varies depending on the composition of the household and resources, as well as the organization providing the aid.
For a couple (CAF and MSA):
- €228.67 without child
- €274.41 with a child
- €320.14 with two children
- €381.12 with three children
- €442.10 with four children
- €503.09 with five children
- then €60.98 per additional child.
For a single person (France Travail):
- €152.45 without child
- €205.81 with a child
- €232.49 with two children
- €248.49 with three children
- €269.84 with four children
- then €21.34 per additional child.
For a couple (France Travail):
- €152.45, single amount regardless of the number of children.
These amounts apply in mainland France and in the overseas departments, with the exception of Mayotte, where the amounts are slightly lower.
With aid adapted to family situations, the 2024 Christmas bonus is an expected support to help low-income households welcome the holidays with complete peace of mind.
