Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is campaigning for the presidential majority in the legislative elections, in addition to his individual candidacy in Hauts-de-Seine, while his future at the head of government is uncertain after the elections.

A head of government on borrowed time. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal repeats this Monday, June 17 on RTL that he is campaigning for the presidential majority in the legislative elections, while his future as head of the executive is uncertain.

“I am the Prime Minister, it is me who is leading this campaign, it is me who with our candidates together for the Republic is proposing another path, a positive path for the future of the country,” recalls he, while the campaign officially began this Monday, June 17.

“This legislative election, which Prime Minister is it? Which government? What majority?”, underlines Gabriel Attal, recalling the challenges facing the French.

“The French know me, I have my qualities, I have my faults. I am clear, I am ready and I am free”, he says, placing himself in opposition to “Jordan Bardella, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the program behind which will be an economic and financial disaster,” he said.

The Prime Minister then defends “the economic record” of the government “which brought (the country) out of mass unemployment”, according to him.

A surprise dissolution also for Attal

On the evening of June 9, after the announcement of the European results, Emmanuel Macron declared the dissolution of the National Assembly. According to information from BFMTV, Gabriel Attal tried to dissuade the head of state, shortly before his speech, from carrying out this dissolution, putting his resignation in the balance. “I am the fuse,” he assured.

The suggestion was refused by Emmanuel Macron, considering Gabriel Attal to be “the best to lead the campaign” for the legislative elections.

During the campaign for the European elections, Gabriel Attal had already been very present, notably facing in debate the head of the National Rally list Jordan Bardella. For the legislative elections, it will also be present on the campaign posters of Renaissance candidates who request it.

In addition to campaigning for the government, Gabriel Attal is a candidate for re-election in the 10th constituency of Hauts-de-Seine for the legislative elections.
