Vladimir Guerrero Jr. paid a wonderful tribute to his father and the Montreal Expos with cleats specially designed for Father’s Day.

The Toronto Blue Jays revealed on social media the superb shoes that the Dominican wore during Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians at the Rogers Centre.

There we find a shoe painted in the colors of the Expos, the team with which Vladimir Guerrero Sr. had the best moments of his career in major baseball. The outfielder wore the “Nos Amours” uniform from 1996 to 2003, hitting 234 home runs along the way.

Photos of his father and a young “Vlad junior” were printed on this shoe. On the other, stamped with the Jays logo, the two men in their respective uniforms are posing. We also notice the Guerrero signatures.

These cleats also seem to bring luck to Junior, since he obtained hits in three of his four at-bats against the Guardians. Guerrero Jr. crossed the plate once on Daulton Varsho’s grand slam in the fifth inning.

A cannon shot

This brilliant move also made the difference in a 7-6 victory for the local favorites. Varsho’s four runs put the Blue Jays up 6-2, giving the relief pitchers some needed cushion. Watch in main video.

Ernie Clement also contributed to his team’s offense by hitting a two-run homer. It was a mixed start for Jose Berrios (6-5), who allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings.

The Jays (35-36) finished this three-game series against Cleveland, the best team in the Central Division of the American (44-25), with a second consecutive victory. John Schneider’s men will begin a series against the Boston Red Sox on Monday.
