Apple would restore thinness to its MacBook, iPhone and Apple Watch

Apple is reportedly working again to slim down its devices, as the latest iPad Pros have demonstrated.

Impossibly thin, incredibly powerful », This is how the iPad Pro 2024 is described, the thinness of which has been the subject of special effort (5.1 mm instead of 6.4 mm for the large model) and is immediately visible and appreciable when you pick them up in hand. This movement, controversial when it hit the penultimate generation of MacBook Pros, will not be limited to these tablets, says Mark Gurman in his newsletter this weekend.

The generation of iPhone 17 in 2025 will see the arrival of a “ noticeably leaner », Indicate its sources. Apple would also work to reduce the thickness of the Apple Watch but also the MacBook Pro – which had regained weight by regaining a more conventional, more reliable keyboard and a series of connection ports.

There are no further details on what this implies in terms of possible compromises or if Apple has managed to cut through the crowd by optimizing its designs. Like what was done for the iPad Pros which nevertheless feature the latest generation processor and a top-notch screen.

The hypothesis of a thinner iPhone is not new. Rumors have been swirling since last month of a so-called “slim” iPhone 17 which would take over from the Plus models, indicated analysts Jeff Pu and Ross Young. It would have a 6.55 to 6.6″ screen (instead of 6.7″)
