Thursday November 7, 2024Vincent Renoux, mayor of Saint-Germain-d’Étables near Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) welcomed Audrey Baconnais-Rosez, sub-prefect of the district and Chantal Cottereau, departmental councilor to attend the installation of the last two fire reserves in the municipality as part of the External Defense against Fire. The municipality did not have sufficient water coverage in the event of a fire: absence of fire hydrants or fire hydrants no longer meeting minimum flow standards.
Two necessary reservations
Consequently, part of the village was not covered, these two reserves were therefore necessary and represented an important issue for the fire protection of the inhabitants. “This is a project that we have been carrying out for three years, the time necessary for the study of the installations with along the way a change in the coverage distance which made it possible to place two reserves instead of five if the distances are not had not gone from 200 to 400 meters and also the time to complete the financing » explains Vincent Renoux.
Local businesses
The work was carried out by two local companies: Crèvecœur de Lucy located between Londinières and Neufchâtel-en-Bray for the earthworks and developments part and by the company Tubao based in Saint-Saëns for the supply of the buried tanks. The cost of the work amounts to 78,500 euros excluding tax, financed 40% by the State, 30% by the departmental council, 10% obtained by the EPCI, the remainder borne by 20% by the municipality, i.e. an amount just over €15,000. Thanks to these installations, the town is now covered at almost 90%: “It will no longer be a hindrance for the covered areas to respond positively to work requiring a building permit”concludes the mayor.
