The material store of the weavers of Pita and those of certain surrounding prefectures caught fire.
This fire took place this Sunday, November 10, 2024 around 11 a.m. The fire was only brought under control around 12:50 p.m. thanks to the help of people from all sides.
There was no loss of human life but there was significant material damage, particularly to weaving threads.
For the boss of the weavers of Pita, Elhadj Ibrahima Sory Diallo known under the nickname of Sory Mawbo: “I say Alhamdoulillah and I thank the populations of Pita who spared no effort in controlling the fire which would have could have been more devastating. But God is great, we thank him very much for the grace given.
I was in Dalaba at the market when I was called to tell me that there was a fire in one of my stock stores. But I admit that you have to live with people because when I arrived, I found a large crowd and everyone was working towards controlling the fire.”
Regarding the causes of this fire, the boss is content only to thank God for having limited the damage.
As we left the premises, weavers from all over the Pita prefecture were gathered at their boss’s house to sort and collect the threads that could still be recovered.
