Fiorentina
It had to happen one day. After seven consecutive victories in all competitions with a cumulative score of 21-4, Fiorentina finally tasted defeat. In a recent Europa League away match against APOEL of Cyprus, coach Raffaele Palladino opted for a rotation, sending out an alternate team that struggled against their opponents, with Jonathan Ikone scoring on the 74th minute to reduce the score to 0:2. The team displayed a low pace and intensity, unable to cope with the attacks of the Nicossians. Local media have pointed out that Kin lacks a true successor – Kouame seemed sidelined as a striker, while Beltran is not at the required level.

Despite Palladino’s insistence that all his players are key contributors, Florentine daily La Nazione has categorized Fiorentina players by importance. Leaders include De Gea, Kin, Gosens, Dodo, Comuzzo and Gudmundsson; while Kouame (the captain!), Beltran, Sottile, Mandragora and Ikone are considered rotation players, and Kayi, Kvarta, Biraghi, Moreno and Parisi are seen as reserves. The publication noted that either the club’s hierarchy will realize that Fiorentina need reinforcements during the winter transfer window, or Palladino will have to choose between Serie A and the Europa League, as the team cannot manage two tournaments (three if (we include the Coppa Italia).
Fiorentina will be without Danilo Cataldi for this match, and Adli’s participation remains uncertain since the latter was replaced at half-time in the match against APOEL.

Verona
Verona managed to scalp another great team on their home field. After their victory against Napoli on the first day, Paolo Zanetti’s team triumphed against Roma (3:2). This was helped by questionable refereeing decisions and tactical substitutions: Manyani scored his goal with a foul against Ndika, which the referee failed to notice, and the winning goal in the 88th minute came from a counterattack triggered by a few players who came on in the second half – Livramento made the assist, and Harroui scored. Thus, Verona saved their coach from inevitable dismissal – it is unlikely that club president Maurizio Setti would have kept the manager after a seventh defeat in eight league matches.
“We thought we would finish with zero points from the matches against Roma, Fiorentina and Inter, but we already have three. Now we just want to capitalize on the enthusiasm generated by this victory. The reliability of the pair “I hope it becomes stable. Roma had Dovbyk, and now they will have to deal with Kin,” Zanetti said.

Fiorentina vs Verona: Author’s prediction
Verona could take advantage of Fiorentina’s difficult trip to Cyprus and the absence of Gudmundsson and Cataldi in the away team. For this reason alone, I don’t expect a significant victory for the hosts in this match. Fiorentina should win against Verona by a margin of at least two goals. Let me reiterate: at best.
