The Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza announced Sunday morning the death of 20 people, including four women and three children, in Israeli airstrikes, which also left dozens injured, in the Gaza Strip.
The deadliest strike, which left ten people dead, targeted a house in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told AFP. At least one woman died and ten people were injured in a separate strike on another house in the camp, he added.
Five other people were killed and 11 injured by a “missile launched by an Israeli drone this (Sunday) morning in eastern Rafah”in the south of the Palestinian territory, the spokesperson further declared. Four other people —“three women and a child”— were killed in a nighttime strike against a house in the west of the Nusseirat camp (center), he said. The war was triggered by the surprise attack launched on October 7, 2023 by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
This attack resulted in the death of 1,206 people on the Israeli side, the majority civilians, according to an AFP count based on official figures and including hostages who died or were killed in captivity in the Gaza Strip. Some 43,800 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli military campaign of retaliation on the Gaza Strip, mostly civilians, according to data from the Hamas government’s Health Ministry for Gaza, deemed reliable by the UN.
