The discussions focused on defense, but also touched on key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and banking development, illustrating the ambition of the Burkina to diversify its international partnerships for sustainable growth.
Faced with the rise of terrorism and threats of destabilization in the region, Burkina Faso’s military reinforcement has become a priority. The government is therefore exploring Russian arms delivery contracts, aiming to equip its army more efficiently. The Prime Minister also insisted on the need to ensure increased control of airspace, considering the acquisition of civil and military satellites to better monitor and protect the territories of theAlliance of Sahelian States (AES)to which the Burkina Faso. In addition to the military sector, the discussions addressed strategic economic aspects. The ambassador Martynov praised the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation, saying that several Russian companies are ready to invest in Burkina Faso. He also announced measures to simplify obtaining visas on site, which would facilitate trade and strengthen bilateral relations. Thus, this meeting between the two nations reflects the desire to intensify their partnership on diversified bases.
