Corsica is placed on yellow alert “thunderstorms” by Météo-France services, this Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November.

In Corsica-du-Sud, the alert takes effect this Saturday noon and will be active until this Sunday, 1 p.m.

In Haute-Corse, vigilance starts at 6 a.m. and ends the next day at 1 p.m. The department is also on alert “rain-flood” : first in yellow from this Saturday 6 a.m., it will turn orange from 2 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day.

“The weather is mostly cloudy all dayindicates the Météo-France bulletin for Saturday. However, we can fear showers, in the Sartenais, on the relief, on the Alta Rocca as well as in the Porto-Vecchio region, or even a thunderstorm at the beginning of the afternoon. It’s snow that falls above 2450 meters.”

The highest rainfall totals expected are 10 millimeters on the terrain.

For the night from Saturday to Sunday: “Under a cloudy sky, the weather is often dry. However, temporary stormy showers occur except in the southwest of the department and the extreme south. It snows from 2350 meters. A maximum of up to 5 is expected. millimeters of rain on the relief.”

“All day there is a risk of showers, often not very markedannounces the bulletin. It is on the eastern coast and Castagniccia that the showers are most numerous, and they can even take on a stormy character during the morning. The rain-snow limit drops from 2600 meters to 2400 meters in the middle of the day. Then it gradually rises again.”

A maximum of 60 millimeters of rain is expected in the region.

For the night from Saturday to Sunday: “The weather is humid, very cloudy, with scattered rain. Precipitation is more sustained, thunderstorms are possible in the east of the department. Snow falls above 2,300 meters. The heaviest cumulative rainfall can be around 40 millimeters on the eastern plain.”

The Haute-Corse prefecture urges the greatest caution, respecting the following instructions:

  • Do not enter, on foot or by car, on a submerged path,
  • Respect the diversions put in place,
  • Do not shelter under the trees,
  • Respect the instructions given by the security services,
  • Avoid walks in the forest and outings in the mountains,
  • In flood-prone areas, keep furniture out of water and monitor rising water levels,
  • Do not walk along the banks of rivers located downstream of dams,
  • Listen to the radio station France Bleu RCFM and France 3 Corse ViaStella,
  • Finally, it is advisable to find out how the episode progresses:
