Alliance defense ministers met in Brussels to discuss support for Kyiv.

In the presence of the American Secretary of State for Defense, Lloyd Austin, the defense ministers of NATO member countries met in Brussels. A final meeting before a major summit planned for July in Washington.
At the heart of the discussions, Ukraine, whose army is in difficulty facing Russian troops. While this war has lasted for two years, Jens Stoltenberg wants to ensure that the Alliance countries will maintain their military aid to Kyiv in the long term.
“Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the allies have provided military support worth 40 billion euros per year. I have proposed that we maintain this level of support for as long as necessary. And may allies share this burden fairly“, said the NATO Secretary General.
NATO’s main objective for Ukraine is long-term assistance. Jens Stoltenberg said gaps and delays in arms transfers must be ended.
The last six months have been very difficult for the country, Russia has seized even more territories. The defense ministers also discussed the training of Ukrainian soldiers and financial aid, all in advance of the major summit of heads of state and government to be held in July in Washington.
