The Shaker holds its minor baseball day on Sunday

The Shaker has two important games on its schedule this weekend in the Puribec Senior Baseball League.

Two days after its 9-3 victory against Matane, the Rimousk team (5-2) will visit, on Friday evening, Industries Desjardins du Kamouraska (4-0), an undefeated team at the start of the season. First place will be at stake.

An interesting pitching duel awaits between Émile Maisonneuve (0-1) and Émilien Plouffe (1-0).

Workshops for young people

Sunday, the Shaker will be back in front of its fans to welcome the McCain Cataractes of Grand Falls at 2 p.m. on the occasion of the annual day for minor baseball as is done in all eight stadiums on the circuit.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., a clinic will be given by the Shaker players while the young people will be divided into four workshops. As of Thursday noon, 35 players had confirmed their presence.

Subsequently, players in the 13U division and above will be invited to catch balls during the Shaker players’ batting practice.

Some of the participants will act as batting attendants during the game, others will participate in the presentation of the players before the national anthem. There will also be door prizes.

It is still possible to register for the clinic on the Shaker or ABMR Facebook pages.

Other matches

Five other games are on display this weekend on the Puribec circuit. Friday evening, Témiscouata (3-2) will travel to Edmundston (2-4).

Saturday, the Cataractes (2-3) will play in Matane (0-6) in the evening before heading to Rimouski for the next day’s match against the Shaker. This is possibly a first in the league where a team travels for two games in two days with an overnight hotel stay.

Also Sunday, Trois-Pistoles (2-3) will be at Matane and Témiscouata (3-2) at Kamouraska.
