Malicious tongues claim that China is currently taking a very interested view of the war in Ukraine. After all, it has long been speculated that the world’s most populous country would also be interested in conquering one of its neighboring countries: Taiwan. Given that the United States is currently present in the island nation with targeted military maneuvers and visits, China is unlikely to invade Taiwan anytime soon. But apparently China is already much more present in its own country than the Taiwanese would like. Eight Chinese IT companies are suspected. They allegedly stole secrets from Taiwanese companies and passed them on to the country of origin.

Fight for skilled workers

A small war is already raging between Taiwan and China. However, the fight is not over land mass or raw materials. The focus is instead on skilled workers. China, in particular, is very interested in the “manpower” that this small island state has to offer. Until now, Chinese companies have tried to attract these people with lucrative employment contracts including attractive remuneration. However, the strategy does not seem very promising. Today, it can be assumed that heavier weapons are used. Eight Chinese companies allegedly stole important corporate secrets from Taiwan.

In search of technology

Of course, the Land of the Rising Sun has no shortage of skilled workers. After all, the world’s most populous country has enough people to keep it supplied. China would rather be interested in major technological developments. The assessment of a large-scale raid will now reveal whether Taiwan’s accusations are justified. As part of the ordered measures, Taiwanese authorities investigated a total of 14 Chinese company sites.

The action was by no means spontaneous. According to the Taiwanese government, the raids were planned six months in advance. Now, the data collected is not the only expected results. More than 60 suspects were also summoned. They must be questioned about the accusations. The results should then quickly provide answers to the questions posed by the Taiwan government about these allegations.

The envy of China

Independent Taiwan has long been a red flag for China. After all, it is still one step ahead of China in the technology sector. The second largest country in the world obviously does not want to accept this. The pressure to remain the world leader in the technology sector is too great. Therefore, it makes sense to attract skilled workers from Taiwan to China without further delay. After all, this not only provides highly qualified personnel. In addition, new employees bring with them internal company knowledge that Chinese companies can use very well to survive in the market. The Taiwanese government rightly does not want to sit idly by this highly questionable procedure.

Instead, state leaders made serious accusations. The serious accusation of economic espionage is not the only one in the room. Taiwan even claims that the island nation’s national security is under threat. This last point may seem overly threatening to us outsiders. But Taiwan is right to be afraid. After all, confidential information about cutting-edge technologies can cause a lot of damage in the wrong hands. Additionally, with many skilled workers leaving Taiwan, the technology sector could disappear as one of the country’s main pillars. We are curious if the accusations from China’s neighboring country are justified and we will keep you updated.
