A ceremony which will still have caused a lot of ink to flow. Around ten days after the coronation of Manchester City's Spanish midfielder, Rodri, at the 2023 Ballon d'Or, the details of the votes are starting to be made public.
This Friday, France Football exclusively reveals the gap that separated Vinicius Jr from the supreme individual trophy. Only a gap of 41 points is thus counted in the distribution of votes.
A tiny difference since each vote gives 15 points to the first in the ranking of voting journalists, from the first 100 countries in the FIFA ranking.
As a reminder, the non-awarding of the Ballon d'Or to Vinicius Jr caused a scandal within Real Madrid, who went so far as to boycott the individual award ceremony. Winner of Euro 2024 with Spain, the Premier League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup with Manchester City, Rodri was preferred to Vinicius Jr, winner of La Liga, the League Champions and the Spanish Super Cup.
