what does the vote mean to European women in your constituency?

Sunday evening, after the results of the European elections marked in France by a high score from the National Rally, Emmanuel Macron took the political world by surprise by announcing the dissolution of the National Assembly.

There will therefore be legislative elections in France, on June 30 and July 7, at the end of an improvised express campaign. While the negotiations are being carried out vigorously on the left and the far right, and the Republicans are tearing themselves apart, it is interesting to look at what Sunday’s vote gives to the legislative constituencies.

France has 577 constituencies, including 11 for French people established outside France. Each of them sends a deputy to the National Assembly.

Different elections

The Ministry of the Interior published on June 12 on Data.gouv.fr a file aggregating by legislative constituency the results of each polling station in Sunday’s European election.

This gives some indications, but we should not imagine that this map gives a forecast of the elections of June 30 and July 7. Several factors make the comparison between European and legislative elections risky: outgoing bonus, local vote for a well-known figure, possibility of alliances, different voting methods, etc.

Nevertheless, it gives an idea of the dynamics of the different parties. And as such, the National Rally wave is obvious: the party of Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen came first in 454 constituencies out of 577.

Behind the blue wave of the RN, the list of La France insoumise led by Manon Aubry comes first in 50 constituencies, mainly in the north-east of the Paris region.

The presidential majority is only in the lead in 39 constituencies, most of which are located in western Paris. The PS – Public Place alliance of Raphaël Glucksmann is first in 31 constituencies mainly located in eastern Paris and the centers of large cities in the West (Nantes, Rennes, Brest, etc.).
