The various points of sale of sheep for the tabaski festival are well stocked in Kolda. Thus, the Sikilo and Bouna Kane fairgrounds are well supplied with ruminants, particularly sheep and goats. Moreover, trucks continue to arrive and unload at Fouladou from elsewhere to satisfy customers. In this sense, the places are well supplied with water and electrified with security provided by the defense forces day and night.

In this dynamic, Amadou Balde president of the Bouna Kane fairground believes that all the conditions are met to satisfy the populations. However, he points out that there are some difficulties such as the filling of the entrance road which risks preventing people from entering in the event of rain. Better, he specifies that livestock feed is also available and that sheep cost between 50 thousand and five hundred thousand. In this jumble, we can see a great organization this year. However, according to the people met on site, the specter of the economic crisis risks hanging over sales and purchases.

Blue shirt, Hamidou in his forties who came to buy his sheep says “I was able to get a sheep for 125 thousand”. In the process, he maintains “there are sheep for everyone but they are expensive. What we fear is the economic crisis, there is no money in these times. »

According to Amadou Baldé, president of the fairground, “everything is going well because the sheep are available with water, electricity and security is ensured on the premises. However, this year we salute the organization of the fair compared to last year. In this sense, we do not have many difficulties this year…”

Babacar Diané is a sheep dealer. The latter estimates that “people come provided that Tabaski is approaching, the sheep cost between 50 thousand, one hundred thousand or 500 thousand depending on the client’s budget. Considering the unloadings, I don’t think there will be a shortage of sheep. » Moreover, he specifies “livestock feed is available and the subsidized feed costs 5,200 CFA francs and there is a sufficient quantity. And we have water, electricity and security. »

As the festival approaches, the fairgrounds fill up. And around these places income-generating activities are developing such as restaurants, hay sellers, not to mention the Jakarata motorcycle taxi drivers who are rubbing their hands.
