Californian authorities have asked thousands of people to evacuate their homes in the face of a massive fire that has already destroyed dozens of homes and continues to spread in the hills northwest of Los Angeles.
The “Mountain Fire”, which broke out on Wednesday in Ventura County, near the city of Camarillo, is burning in an area where around 30,000 people live. Its cause is still unknown, but the flames spread quickly thanks to powerful winds, with gusts of up to 130 km/h.
The fire has already destroyed many homes and threatens more than 3,500 in total. It has already consumed nearly 8,100 hectares.
A very active fire season
