Scenes of apocalypse are slowly giving way to the return of the mundane and routine in the large commercial area of Givors (Rhône), several weeks after the historic flood of October 17.
This Friday, November 8, 2024, we take stock of the businesses that have been able to reopen to date, among the 110 brands and 10 companies in the Givors 2 Vallées commercial zone.
The signs come back on
The cars abandoned in the parking lot and the piles of waste brought in by the water have been cleaned up, but work remains to be carried out within the shopping center to repair the damage.

Carrefour returns later
Some stores take longer than others to reopen. This is the case, for example, of McDonald's, Crédit Agricole, Orange and Carrefour. The latter received a visit from Prime Minister Michel Barnier at the end of October, while the water evacuation was still in progress.
“We continue to work hard to welcome you soon in the best conditions and we look forward to seeing you again. We will not fail to inform you of the reopening date as soon as we are able to do so,” indicates Carrefour Givors.
