WestJet airline’s new UltraBase fare is sparking reactions on social media. The director of McGill University’s aviation management program, John Gradek, says it’s simply a reshuffling of the company’s pricing structure.
“ They did not reduce the prices as such, they only changed the name and put a restriction. »
It was the carry-on baggage restrictions attached to the new UltraBase fare that sparked the most anger and ridicule from people. Air Canada and Porter took the opportunity to remind travelers of the benefits they have in store for them. We haven’t really finished with this differentiation that airlines are trying to do to better compete. [dans] the Canadian market
notes Mr. Gradek.
John Gradek points out that even if there is competition between Canadian companies, it is not fierce enough. He notably mentions the cessation of Lynx flights earlier this year.
If we find cheap rates now [il faut les prendre] because chances are good that they will disappear sooner rather than later
he suggests.
