At AEW Dynamite on November 6, 2024, Malakai Black lost to Adam Cole.
After their match, the two wrestlers hugged each other, before Black left the ring and Cole thanked him for the match. This scene led many fans to speculate about Malakai Black's possible retirement or departure from the company, but this would not be the case.
In his Instagram story, Malakai Black wanted to clarify his situation. The House of Black member clarified that he is neither injured, retiring, nor on the verge of leaving AEW. He declared:
“The match ended and everyone is saying, 'He's retiring because of his injuries,' this and that. That's not true. I'm not injured or retiring, nor leaving. I notice this happens after every match I play and I don't understand how many times I have to repeat these things.
It's been over three years since I had an injury. I'm doing very well. Things have been going well for a long time. I really wish this would stop. If I decide to retire, you will hear it directly from me, not after Adam [Cole] cut a promo to thank me for the match because that's all there was.”
