The town of Sermoise-sur-, where Lina's body was discovered, wishes to erect a memorial in her honor. A prize pool has been put online to finance the project.

Three weeks have passed, but in Nièvre the emotion remains strong. After the discovery of Lina's body on October 16 in Sermoise-sur-Loire, the mayor of the town Manuel de Jesus launched an appeal on social networks to erect a memorial to honor the memory of the Alsatian teenager.

“I took the initiative of creating a memorial, a simple and sober place, a few steps from the place where she was found. This monument will be more than a stele; it will be a reflection of our pain and of our solidarity, a place where everyone can come to reflect, remember and pay tribute,” writes the councilor, in a letter published on Facebook.

An open jackpot

Manuel de Jesus specifies that this place will not be financed by municipal funds. “I am appealing to your generosity to allow a sculptor to create this symbol of our shared sadness,” declared the mayor of the town.

A fundraiser was opened to finance the project. People who wish can send their donations to the following address: Arts Mossé, in Sermoise town hall, 2 quater rue d'Ardy, 58.000 Sermoise-sur-Loire.

Since the death of the young girl, Manuel de Jesus says he has received “countless testimonies of sadness and solidarity”.

“The pain of this community is immense, and in the face of it, it is impossible to remain still,” adds the councilor.

Lina's funeral took place on Friday October 25 in Plaine (Bas-Rhin), where she lived with her family. His body was then buried in the strictest family privacy.

At this point, the exact circumstances of Lina's death remain unknown. Expertise is continuing to try to find out the causes of his death.
