This is the first time that a former American president has been criminally convicted. He will receive his sentence on July 11. In the meantime, he has already indicated that he will appeal and his new trial should not take place before the presidential election. It remains to be seen whether or not he will be sentenced to prison, which is unlikely, according to experts. In any case, his candidacy for the presidential election is not called into question.
