The Israeli army announced Thursday morning the death of Sergeant Ariel Sosnov, 20, from Jerusalem, killed during fighting in northern Israel. The young soldier served in the 605th engineering battalion of the “Barak” brigade (188). His death brings to 781 the number of Israeli soldiers who have fallen in combat since the start of the war.
Furthermore, a fighter from the Nachshon battalion (90) of the Kfir brigade was seriously injured during clashes in the northern Gaza Strip. He was taken to a hospital and his family was informed of his condition.
In this context, IDF Chief of Staff General Herzi Halevi carried out an assessment of the situation on the northern front. He stressed that “alongside diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement in Lebanon, we must continue to develop plans for the continuation of the fighting, including the expansion and deepening of ground maneuvers.” The general added that the army “continues to strike Hezbollah targets according to an established plan throughout the region – in South Lebanon, the Bekaa, Beirut and Syria.”
Last weekend, the army also announced the death of two fighters from the Givati brigade – Sergeant Itai Parizat, 20, from Petah Tikva, and Sergeant Yair Hanania, 22, from Mitzpe Netofa – who fell during the fighting in Jabaliya, northern Gaza. The day before, Captain Yarden Zakai, 21, from Hadera, died of his injuries after being hit by a weapons explosion in Rafah on September 17.
