This news item had left its mark. A few days after the death of Anis, 15, during a shooting that occurred on the night of Thursday October 31 to Friday November 1 in Poitiers (Vienna), a suspect went to the police in Paris and was placed in police custody, said the public prosecutor of Poitiers, Cyril Lacombe, this Tuesday, November 5. He is the main suspect in this case.
“Checks are underway to confirm his identity and to verify whether he is indeed the person who was the subject of a search warrant issued by the Poitiers public prosecutor’s office,” said the prosecutor. According to information from Le Parisien, the suspect, who surrendered himself to the authorities in Paris, is “currently being transferred to the premises of the judicial police in Poitiers”.
Shot in the head, Anis was rushed to the city's university hospital with a life-threatening condition. He died of his injuries on Saturday afternoon. Four other teenagers, aged 15 and 16, were also injured, more lightly, during this shooting, where shots were fired in front of a restaurant in the priority district of Couronneries.
Friday, Cyril Lacombe indicated that a man, who “would have engaged in the sale of narcotics” in the area where the events occurred, “during the previous days”, was actively sought by investigators.
During a search of a home he allegedly occupied, seven rounds of ammunition of the same caliber as the 11 found at the scene of the shooting, as well as “partial elements of a dismantled weapon”, were seized according to the prosecution.
The priority district of Couronneries is home to “two or three deal points which are important and mobilize the national police a lot on a daily basis” but remains “relatively calm”, indicated the prefect of Vienne, Friday November 1. “It is not held by the dealers even if there can be tensions,” added Jean-Marie Girier.
After the incident, on Thursday evening, scuffles broke out, involving a few dozen people according to the police and the prosecution, while some were accused by others of knowing the shooter.
