The District of Haute-Garonne and the Ligue d'Occitanie have decided to postpone their matches to protest against the aggression of Colomiers educators.
On the night of Monday October 28 to Tuesday October 29, the cars of two educators from US Colomiers were burned within a few hours of each other. Facts which were not trivial, and certainly linked. The club had decided to stop training for its youth teams until November 11. The authorities followed suit in the face of these heinous acts. This Tuesday, the District of Haute-Garonne announced that all meetings for next weekend were postponed in a press release.
“This symbolic stop aims to remind everyone, and in particular parents, that respect for our educators is essential and non-negotiable. The weekend without a match is a response to the increase in aggression and pressure that those who supervise young people on the pitch too often endure. We hope that it will allow everyone to become aware of the crucial role of our educators, without whom football could not exist. »
“Raising awareness, discussing and informing children and their parents”
Then it was the turn of the Ligue d'Occitanie to announce match postponements. “Every week, these educators stand on the sidelines, to guide, encourage, and teach young players, despite the difficulties and sometimes the hostility they encounter. Today, these behaviors are reaching an unacceptable level. This weekend, we say together that without educators, there is no football. » The regional body therefore decided to postpone “all regional youth men’s and women’s competitions, except the Coupe Gambardella Crédit-Agricole Blagnac – Alès match”.
The two authorities ask the clubs to reflect on these facts which took place in Colomiers. “We invite clubs to take advantage of this break to raise awareness, discuss and inform children and their parents about the importance of respect for those who support their passion. This weekend without a match is an opportunity to recall the fundamental role of our educators and our officials, and also to recall the need to offer them a safe and caring environment. »
