Jean-Karl, here we come! The 24 Hours of Le Mans with Isotta Fraschini! It’s the event that everyone is looking forward to…

It’s clear ! It’s going to be something incredible. This is the first time that there are so many Hypercars who will fight for the overall victory. I really think it’s going to be better than last year. We can’t wait for it to start, it takes a lot of preparation for a race. For us, it’s a race where we will have a lot more testing than at other WEC rounds, so I wouldn’t say it should be easier, but it will allow us to have a lot more running time.

Can this extra driving time help you progress?

Yes because we have drivers who are not novices, but they are rookies, who have little experience. We have to let them ride a lot. Even for me, for qualifying, since we don’t do a qualifying simulation, it’s complicated to put everything together because I don’t drive enough. At meetings, compared to others, in terms of performance, there is always a shortfall. But we are progressing, we are progressing well and that is the most important thing.

You have a progression curve since the first races which is interesting…

Yes, even at Spa where even though we had big traction problems in two corners, in the Source and in the last chicane, but in the second sector we were in the peloton. It shows that we have made good progress, and I can’t wait to see what happens with a lot more running time for us to improve the car.

You have this role of team captain with the two young people who accompany you. How do you take on this role here on this team?

After Le Mans, I only did it once. I have more experience than them but not that much… I’m older than them, that’s for sure, I’ve done other championships, but after that it’s up to me to support them and to share my experience as best as possible so that they progress as quickly as possible. It’s a team sport, we’re all together. The closer they are to me, or even faster than me, the better it will be for the car and the overall performance. It is in everyone’s best interest that I can share whatever information I can obtain.
